Iconic Beaches on Harris

Huisinis Beach

Follow the single-track B887 from north of Tarbert and you’ll pass 15 miles of spellbinding scenery before arriving at Huisinis.

  • White sands and aquamarine water

  • Views across the Atlantic to the now uninhabited island of Scarp

  • A true “end of the road” beach that feels wonderfully remote

Luskentyre

Regularly named one of the best beaches in the UK, Luskentyre is a must-visit.

  • Miles of white sand and shifting tidal shallows

  • Striking turquoise water, backed by the mountains of North Harris

  • Access via a single-track road off the A859, with parking near the cemetery and paths through the dunes

Seilebost

Best appreciated from the main road above the south side of the bay, Seilebost offers one of the most iconic views in the Hebrides – a sweep of sand and sea with mountain backdrops.

Access to the lower sands is trickier, but you can often reach parts of the bay via the Luskentyre side, making it a great combined trip.

Scarista

The largest of the Harris beaches, Scarista features around 3 miles of pristine sand.

  • Multiple access points from the A859

  • Big views over the Sound of Taransay to the island of Taransay

  • Ideal for long walks, photography and simply letting your mind wander
